Sweet Potato Casserole Recipe

Sweet potato casserole is a traditional side dish at any holiday meal, but Thanksgiving is the most widely known holiday for this side dish!


Ingredients for Sweet Potato Casserole Recipe:


  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 3 cups cooked mashed sweet potatoes
  • 1 cup Orange Juice
  • 2 tablespoons Orange Peel Extract

Topping for Sweet Potato Casserole Recipe:

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 bag mini marshmallows

How to prepare this Sweet Potato Casserole Recipe

  • Peel the sweet potatoes, wash and cut in half.
  • Boil Sweet Potatoes in large pot on stove for approximately 20 minutes (after boil starts) or until they fall off a knife.
  • Pull Sweet Potatoes from water and allow to drain.
  • In large mixing bowl, combine butter, orange juice, orange peel, and potatoes, and mix for 3 minutes.
  • Prepare topping while potatoes mix... Combine milk, brown sugar, butter, and vanilla in microwave bowl and microwave for 1 1/2 minutes or until mix is thickened.
  • Spread potato mixture in casserole dish and sprinkle pecans on top, then add topping mixture evenly over the top.
  • Bake at 350° for 35 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and add marshmallows to top, bake another 10 minutes.
  • Serves 6.
